My self-reflection

The volunteering one of the most important things in the life, it shows us how anyone can help others without any price so there is no finical gain. The volunteering is a selfless activity to improve human quality of life, who volunteering doesn't wait any things from people except the respect for that job.

In this semester I volunteer in the future center for special needs, in the beginning I think that will be very hard especially when think how to deal with someone have a disable so that was a big challenge be faced with. My teacher wants each group volunteer between 13-16 hours in the semester, so we volunteer for 5 weeks each week 3 hours. In each day I visit the center I learned something new, in first class I learn how to deal with my students or you can say my class and I integrate with them very quick because I love them and love this volunteer project. Excel is one of the popular programs in the world and I know a little about it, one day I help Abdullah to do his exam in Excel and I learned many things about Excel while we do the exam.

This project effect in me and the students there also, and its positive effects because the students they are think they can't integrate with the public so after this volunteering the view of students changed. And if I talk about myself this volunteering give me some knowledge about the special needs and how to deal with them, this project is one of my important to me and it’s the first volunteering project for me so for that I like it and will not forget, as I see and the teachers in the center there are no disadvantages for this project and hope if volunteer for a long time.

Eighth day of the volunteer project "Future Center"

And here the interview website:

Seventh day of the volunteer project "Future Center"

At last week and especially in Monday it was the last day in the center, when the students hear that they came sad because they think that who have a disable can't join us in the life, but they see the opposite of this, we share with them every moment when we are at the center.
In the beginning, my friends and I think that it's difficult to deal with them, but when visit the center and join them in their life, my view is changed and know how to deal with the people who have a disable.
In the final, I learnt many things from this project and get more experience, the most news make me happy when the teacher said that some of students pass all levels in the center and now work, that is one of the benefit in this center, before I go to collage the teachers and students hope to visit them again after.

I like those students they are so friendly.

Third day of the volunteer project "Future Center"

Today is another day of volunteer, it was awesome day because I did something new in my life and it’s the first time so today my mission was to teach Zahed and he is a student in my class to read the Noble Quran, in the beginning that was difficult but nothing is hard just understand and try, Zahed is better in the English than Arabic so he start read with English then I motivate him to read the Arabic version.

Second day of the volunteer project "Future Center"

Today we went to the future center for volunteer and it's the second day in the center, every week will visiting the center twice in the week in Monday and Wednesday and with the same students.
I think its a perfect choice when my group choose future center as a project because that make our view about the life very clear, that from see the different in live our life, we can do every things in the life but them hope that so I pray for them to medicament from the disable.
I learnt today how to teach the students Arabic so the teacher give me a duty and its learn Abdul Allah Arabic and speak with him to get better in this language, in the beginning I find some difficulty but that not a big deal because he know to speak but not too much and as a beginning that was successful.

First day of the volunteer project "Future Center"

In 14-Apr-2014 we start our project in the Future center, this center like a school for people who have a disabled like can't talk or walk or insufficiency to do any think in the life, when visit the center my friend and I was think the people in the canter was completely disabled from doing any thing, that what we think but when visit the classes and saw the students our view was changed, because the student there have hope and wish, so they know how to use the technology like the smart phone, more of that they study math and know how to calculated and using a calculator.
Each students get a group of students and my friend Abdul Hakeem and I we work together so we take six students, every group of student have schedule and every class 30 mins, so we present three classes with our group and they are sport, music and math that was from 8:30 till 10:00. The center give as a job and it like a teacher job, we teach the students and share their moments, so that give us a perfect experience and give the students a nice feel with a good hope because I think they hope to be like us without any disable. In center their not allowed to take a picture or video so that maybe a problem.

Aims of the project:
This project has many purposes and outcomes for both of volunteers and target audience.  Us volunteers, we are going to gain experience and background about education volunteering work.
We will learn more about disabilities and how to treat people with disabilities and disorders, especially that we will learn by doing and dealing with them.
This project is a part of this course, by doing it on the best way we will pass this course with the best outcomes.
Planning and preparing is one of the most important purposes of this project, we will improve our planning skills.
Try to help the target audience and people in the future center as much as we can during our volunteering time.
Come up with new ideas to improve the center services and help the managers with some future possible plans.

Benefits of project on target audience:
The philosophy of the center says “Individuals with disabilities have the right to appropriate education and intervention.  They are to be accorded every opportunity for growth and development”.  We are dealing with disability people and they have special needs and we should know what they need from us, we have to make sure from everything before we meet them.  Students there are so sensitive and some actions that we see regular may have a negative reflect on them.  For this purpose, the best way to get ready is to think about their needs and put them in levels:
a)      Level one needs
Understanding: Students will feel more comfortable if they find someone who understands them, and by this way the education process will be easy on both of us.
Time – Patient: We should be patient and give the students time, and we always have to remember that we are dealing with disability students.
Support: The purpose of the project is to help these students, and they need moral support more than any other kind of supports.
b)      Level two needs:
Sympathy: To support disability students and help them to improve their skills to involve in the society we have to show them kindness and love.
Listen-notice: If they feel comfortable they will try to say their thoughts and ideas and we should listen.  Sometimes actions say more than words, so noticing is not less importance than listening.
c)      Level three needs:
Opportunity: Disability students need an opportunity to show people around them how good they are and they are not on the same situation anymore, we have to give them opportunities.
Motivation: they may not success from the first opportunity; they need motivation to try again and again and keep improving and learning.
b) Level four needs:
Confidence: Students will gain confidence and believing in themselves by time and after getting their needs from the past levels.
Acceptance: After getting their previous needs, students will have to get the acceptance from the society and people to live naturally.

            Challenges:
We are going to face many challenges and we are going to pass them.  Some of these challenges are:
-       The acceptance of the students.
-       We are not allowed to take photos or videos without permission, and by this way our blog reports are going to be weak.
-       The center strict rules (for instance, no phones are allowed during the volunteering hours .. etc)
These challenges will be passed easily and we are going to achieve our target and we will end up with a great experience and project at the end of the course.
